Mi opinión is the beginning of a photo series inspired by Luisa Capetillo that explores and challenges traditional gender roles and cultural ideologies surrounding women’s roles in society and presentation in early 20th-century Puerto Rico. The photo series recreates Luisa Capetillo’s bold defiance of societal norms—where she defended her choice of attire as a matter of comfort, hygiene, and a woman’s right to dress according to her needs and the evolving roles of women in society. Set in a timeless, reimagined space, the piece invites viewers to reflect on how her ideals resonate today and to imagine an expanded vision of womanhood.The project seeks to spark conversation about gender expression, empowerment through a contemporary lens.
